Celtic begin discussions to steal English side’s deal for “talented” Champions League talent

Celtic are reportedly exploring the possibility of a late move for Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Høgh as the transfer window edges towards its deadline.

The Scottish champions have made initial contact regarding the 25-year-old and are said to be in competition with Norwich City to secure his signature before next Monday’s cut-off. Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph reports that Celtic have registered their interest, but the Canaries are also firmly in the mix.

Manager Martin O’Neill is believed to be eager to strengthen his attacking options, with injuries affecting his forward line as Celtic gear up for a tight Premiership title race involving Hearts and Rangers. Since O’Neill replaced Wilfried Nancy earlier this month, the Hoops are unbeaten in five matches, including a 2-2 draw with leaders Hearts at the weekend.

Høgh on Celtic’s Radar

Høgh has enhanced his reputation significantly over the past year. The Danish frontman was instrumental in Bodø/Glimt’s eye-catching 3-1 win over Manchester City recently, scoring twice to hand Pep Guardiola’s side a rare defeat in the competition.

Across 2025, he has produced outstanding numbers, with 27 goals and nine assists in 49 appearances in all competitions. He also played a major part in Glimt’s run to the Europa League semi-finals last season, where they were eventually beaten by Tottenham Hotspur.

Any potential deal may be complicated, however. Høgh is under contract with the Norwegian club until December 2029, putting Bodø/Glimt in a strong negotiating position. They remain focused on their European campaign too, with a crucial Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid looming as they chase a place in the knockout rounds.

Celtic’s Window So Far

Celtic have already been active this month. Striker Tomas Cvancara arrived on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach, following the earlier temporary signing of Bournemouth right-back Julian Araujo.

Further additions could still be on the way. The Hoops are reportedly monitoring Brann midfielder Felix Horn Myhre, while interest has also been credited in Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, although that pursuit may prove difficult to complete.

With the deadline approaching, Celtic’s recruitment team appear determined to give O’Neill the tools needed for the title run-in.
