Celtic Coach Brendan Rodgers finally speaks up and reveals the hidden conversation he has with his player before they thrashed St. Johnstone 6-0 in the Scottish Premiership
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has talked about what he told his team before tonight’s amazing 6-0 win over St. Johnstone.
From the beginning to the end, the Bhoys played great. Kyogo Furuhashi, Paulo Bernardo, Callum McGregor, Daizen Maeda, and Adam Idah all scored goals.
The Celts have every reason to be positive before their trip to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, but Rodgers didn’t want his players to think about such an important game until tonight was over.
So much so, the manager said after the game that he had told his players before the game that he wanted a Champions League-level performance at McDiarmid Park, not just in Dortmund. He got what he wanted.
“I told the players ahead of time that this was a chance for us to show how we think,” he told premiersports.com.
“There had been a lot of talk about Dortmund before this.”
“But for myself, I wanted this game to feel like the Champions League, and I thought the Boyz were great.”
After Kyogo scored the first goal with a nice finish 35 minutes in, Perth went crazy.
Even though Celtic was ahead 3-0 at halftime, they didn’t slow down in the second half.
It didn’t matter that Rodgers made a lot of changes; his team’s success didn’t drop.
It was clear that the Hoops really wanted to win throughout the whole game. They look like a real threat right now. On Tuesday night, they will play Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. They will be looking to keep up their perfect start to the season.
