Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers replys back to his critics with a clear message after Celtic Scottish Premiership title win vs Kilmarnock
When Brendan Rodgers leads Celtic to another title win this season, he should take a victory lap.
Since he became manager again, the Bhoys boss has been under a lot of criticism. It was also going to be hard for him at first because of how he was leaving in 2019. He had to work hard to make everyone like him.
The inconsistent results and efforts throughout the season didn’t help, especially when compared to the huge treble win last year. The noise and pressure got worse.
Rodgers, on the other hand, has stuck to his message the whole time. He thought that when the run-in came around and injuries got better, his guys would step up and do well. Yes, they have.
Rodgers told Radio Scotland at Rugby Park that this prize win means more to him than most. They had just won the title with a 5-0 win over Kilmarnock.
Brendan Rodgers was happy that Celtic won the title.
“It’s something I felt would come,” the Celtic boss said. Going all the way back to August, people had bad things to say about the team and how well they were doing. The guys have been great since we started getting them back. A lot of different things have happened.
“Even when people were critical, we stuck with it, kept our minds on the task at hand, and had faith in what we were doing.” In the past few months, there was a lot of stress. To see how they dealt with that, all you have to do is find out how they did.
“That’s a lot. There were doubts about my abilities—was I good enough to be here? Could I lead this team and get them to play the level of football that is required at Celtic? This is the first time in my career that people have paid attention to how I play.
“I’ve never had any doubts this season because I see how honest and hard we work every day from the players.” We’ve gotten better as the season has gone on. I’m so happy for them and the fan base. We’ve become closer in the past few months.
