Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has firmly dismissed reports linking the club with a January move for Derby County midfielder Bobby Clark, stating that there is “no truth” behind the rumours.
Speculation earlier this week suggested the Hoops were lining up a significant offer for the young playmaker, who is currently on loan from RB Salzburg. However, speaking ahead of Celtic’s upcoming fixture, Rodgers was quick to pour cold water on the claims, insisting no approach has been made and that the reports had been exaggerated.
The Northern Irishman, addressing the story in his pre-match press conference, admitted he was baffled by the link and stressed that he had no idea where it originated.
“It’s one that’s come from a long way out,” Rodgers said via Celtic’s official YouTube channel. “I wouldn’t normally comment on speculation, but I really don’t know where that’s come from — especially in October.”
Rodgers’ comments appear intended to shut down any growing speculation before it gathers pace. With Celtic focused on maintaining momentum in domestic and European competitions, the manager made it clear that his attention remains firmly on improving his current squad rather than potential transfer targets months ahead of the window.
His response also carried a subtle message to the media — that Celtic’s transfer plans won’t be shaped by rumours or early-season chatter. For now, Rodgers’ priority lies on the pitch, not in the market.
