Celtic have made an initial enquiry for Basel winger Philip Otele, though they face stiff competition for his signature, according to senior correspondent Ben Jacobs.
The Nigerian-born attacker is expected to leave the Swiss club during the January window, with Basel prepared to consider offers in excess of £6 million after lowering their valuation of the 26-year-old.
Otele was close to joining Fulham last summer, but the move ultimately failed to materialise.
Interest in the winger remains strong, with Celtic joined by several Premier League clubs in the race.
Wolves and Bournemouth have both made contact to understand the conditions of a potential deal, while Championship side Birmingham City and Serie A outfit Lazio have also registered interest.
has contributed 13 goals and assists for Basel this season and has been labelled “incredible” by former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu.
