Celtic Eye Girona Winger As O’Neill Looks for More Attacking Options
Celtic are stepping up their search for attacking reinforcements as Martin O’Neill prepares to make his first January signing. Borussia Monchengladbach striker Tomas Cvancara is set to undergo a Parkhead medical, joining on loan ahead of Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Hearts.
With Cvancara’s arrival imminent, O’Neill is still keen to strengthen the flanks. Spanish winger Yaser Asprilla, currently at Girona, is reportedly on Celtic’s radar.
The Colombian has struggled for game time this season after moving from Watford in 2024, where he made 86 appearances over two campaigns. Ajax, Marseille, and West Ham have also shown interest in the 23-year-old.
So far, Julian Araujo remains Celtic’s only January addition, and fans have voiced frustration over the slow pace of transfer activity, chanting for new signings after Sunday’s 2-0 win over Auchinleck Talbot.
Other targets include West Ham striker Callum Wilson and Chelsea’s David Detro Fofana, though both deals could prove complicated. With the transfer window closing soon, O’Neill faces a race against time to bolster his squad.
