Celtic F.C captain Callum McGregor reveals the secret strategy Celtic should use to win their match against Rangers on saturday
There is a good chance that Celtic will win the Scottish Premiership if they beat Rangers on Saturday.
With a three-point lead going into the Glasgow Derby, the Bhoys could put themselves in danger with a win. If they did, they would only need one point against Kilmarnock the next Wednesday to technically win the title.
Still, Rangers will go to the east end of Glasgow knowing that they have to win or go home. This means that Brendan Rodgers and his team can’t take anything for granted at Parkhead.
Celtic got an important point against their city rivals the last time they played, even though they were down 2-0 and 3-2 at Ibrox. It was Callum McGregor’s first game back after hurting his Achilles.
Following some hard work to get fit, the 30-year-old seems to be back to full strength. This can get harder as you get older and the captain doesn’t get much rest because he is so dedicated to the cause.
Transfermarkt says that McGregor has played in 41 games across all divisions this season and has set up two goals and assisted five others.
Without a doubt, he will be Rodgers’ first choice for the game against the Rangers. Along with Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley, he will have a big impact in the middle of the field.
Talking about what Celtic fans should do when they play Rangers
People are getting more and more excited for the Glasgow Derby, so Celtic fans will fill up Parkhead to make a wall of noise against their bitter foes.
When he talked to Celtic TV, McGregor said that he thinks the players will be able to use the “very difficult” environment in Glasgow’s east end to their advantage.
Noting the problems this could cause for Celtic’s opponents, McGregor told Celtic FC: “I’ve said a lot of times that the fans are very important to us, and when the place is rocking, the football’s good.” Really, really hard to beat that vibe; it’s top-notch.
“It’s up to the players to get the crowd excited, get the game going quickly, and involve the fans in the action.” If we do that, we’ll marry them both at the same time, which should make their day hard.
People wearing green and white will be out in droves on derby day to cheer on their team. It’s an important day in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
After a season full of ups and downs, three points would almost certainly make Rodgers’ team winners for a third year in a row. However, they can’t rest until the job is done.
