Celtic FC 26-year-old defender Cameron Carter-Vickers delivers his honest verdict on Kasper Schmeichel performance since his debut
When Celtic signed Kasper Schmeichel, they no longer had to look for a substitute for Joe Hart during the summer transfer window.
Although the big Dane only signed a one-year deal, Brendan Rodgers may decide to extend it for another year. Already, he looks like a smart move by the manager.
During the US Tour, Schmeichel played well in wins over DC United, Manchester City, and Chelsea. Celtic fans already think they have a new hero in goal.
Cameron Carter-Vickers said that the Danish international already looks like a “unbelievable” player, even though he has only played three Irish games for Celtic so far.
It looks “really good” that Schmeichel will play for Celtic already.
The American defender says it’s fun to play with his Celtic partner, and Carter-Vickers is really impressed with Schmeichel so far.
Carter-Vickers told the Daily Record, “Kasper has been great.” I believe you knew he was good as soon as he walked in.
“It’s easy to see that he can play with the ball at his feet.”
“In the league or Cup games, he probably hasn’t had to make many big saves yet, but I think you saw some amazing saves he made in pre-season. I really enjoy playing with him and can’t wait to keep doing so.”
The 37-year-old goalkeeper for Celtic looks very cool and sure of himself in the middle of the goal.
Schmeichel hasn’t been fully tested yet, even though he did give up a goal against Hibs in the League Cup win.
That test, though, is coming up at the end of August when Rangers come to Celtic Park. If Schmeichel can keep a clean sheet and help Brendan Rodgers get all three points, Celtic fans will think even more highly of him this season.
