Celtic FC Brendan Rodgers delivers his verdict Kyogo Furuhashi performance after Celtic win against Kilmarnock

Rodgers told Kyogo Furuhashi what he’s been telling him after the Japanese player failed to score in Celtic’s 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at Parkhead.

A first-half try by Celtic’s star player was cleared off the line, and late in the game, Kilmarnock’s Ross McCrorie took him down and the referee didn’t give a penalty.

Kyogo did help Nicolas Kuhn score Celtic’s third goal, though he didn’t score himself. Brendan Rodgers has talked about what he has been telling the Japanese striker about where he should play to help the team as a whole.

How “important” Rodgers Message from the Celts to Kyogo

Rodgers thought the whole team played really well against Kilmarnock, but Celtic scored four goals, so the Hoops manager shares the part he has asked Kyogo to play that will be important for the team this season.

“For me, it’s never just the striker,” Rodgers told Celtic TV. Kyogo, I think what he did so very well today was play the space instead of the place.

“I’ve been talking to him about that.” He needs to be on the last line. And if there’s room to go behind, that’s great. But today there was room in front, which brought out the opponent.

“You can see that for Nic’s goal where he missed, there was space, and he spun around the corner, which made room for Nic to come inside in the end.”

Yeah, the goals for the whole team have always been a theme for me. If one player scores 40 goals and no one else does, it doesn’t make sense.

“So every player on the team needs to be able to score goals.”

Kyogo will show how good he is.

If Kyogo doesn’t score in the Flag Day win over Kilmarnock, don’t worry about it at all. Celtic fans saw how good he is at scoring during the pre-season games in the US.

The Celtic striker is 29 years old and has scored enough goals to know that they will come. Based on how he played yesterday, it won’t be long before he scores again in Scotland.

Kyogo took eight shots on goal, but only three of them hit the target. He also had 10 touches in Kilmarnock’s penalty area and three of those eight chances were blocked. He was a constant danger to Derek McInnes’ team. [Fotmob]

With Hibs coming up next, Kyogo will be sure to open his account because the Japanese scorer has scored four goals in his last nine games against the Edinburgh club.
