Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda are two Japanese players from Celtic who were picked by Hajime Moriyasu for their World Cup qualifying games against China and Bahrain.

This season, both players have been very important for Brendan Rodgers’ team, which has helped them get a head start at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

In spite of this, the two had very different luck in last Thursday’s 7-0 win over China, where 23 players helped prepare for the game.

By coming off the bench, Maeda scored a goal. On the other hand, Hatate wasn’t in the matchday group, so he couldn’t add to his nine caps for the Samurai Blue.

While Japan gets ready for their game against Bahrain tomorrow, Bahrain has talked about why he wasn’t in the rout.

Reo Hatate’s response to China being left out of the list

When Hatate talked to Gekisaka (translated by DeepL), he was pretty critical of himself for not being on the team against China. He also promised to get “better and better” so that Moriyasu would let him into his plans.

“When I watched it, I just felt strong.” We can’t change the fact that it’s over, but I think my lack of skill kept me out. If I were good enough, I would have been able to play in the games and make the team, so I think this is because I’m not good enough. I believe this outcome is because I am not skilled enough. I want to be happy and healthy.

“If I can be funny and do something else, I think I’ll keep getting better.” That’s something I want to be aware of.

Later, he said, “Our attack has a lot of good players, and they played with confidence, which showed in the game.” We have no choice but to use this tough situation to take another step forward.

It looks like Reo Hatate is only going to get better.
Translations don’t always take the situation into account, but most Celtic fans would agree that Hatate is lying about his skills when he talks about them.

The 26-year-old has scored twice in his first five games this season, making him an important part of an engine room that has beaten everyone else.

Once Hatate gets back from international service, he will be a very important player for Celtic as they try to win the league in Scotland and compete in the Champions League league phase.

We hope he can hit ten Japan caps tomorrow, so he can come back tomorrow refreshed and ready to lead from the front under Rodgers.
