John Clark, a Celtic hero and Lisbon Lion, has passed away at the age of 84. Celtic is deeply saddened by his departure. Clark was a member of the Celtic starting lineup on the fateful night in 1967 when Jock Stein’s Bhoys defeated Inter Milan to win the European Cup at the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon.
Clark was not only a legend on the pitch, but he also served as a member of the Celtic coaching staff during the 1970s. He was responsible for the reserves and junior team, and later served as Billy McNeill’s assistant. Clark was also Celtic’s kit man for more than two decades, contributing to the club’s dominance of Scottish football throughout the 2000s alongside Martin O’Neill, Gordon Strachan, and Neil Lennon.
