Celtic F.C. confirm Scottish Cup quarter-final date at Ibrox
Celtic have announced that their Scottish Cup quarter-final clash against Rangers F.C. will take place on Sunday, March 8 at 1pm at Ibrox.
The Glasgow rivals will battle it out for a place in the semi-finals, with the fixture carrying huge significance at this stage of the season.
Two Ibrox trips in one week
The scheduling means Celtic will travel to Ibrox twice in the space of a week. A crucial league encounter comes first before attention shifts to the cup showdown, with both matches potentially shaping the direction of the campaign.
Away allocation still unclear
One major detail remains unresolved — the away ticket allocation.
Under Scottish Cup rules, Celtic are permitted to request up to 20 per cent of the stadium capacity for a knockout tie. That would represent a significant increase on the usual allocation of just over 2,000 tickets for a standard Premiership visit.
An expanded travelling support would dramatically alter the atmosphere from a Celtic perspective, and fans are now awaiting confirmation on final numbers and sale arrangements. With a semi-final spot on the line, demand is expected to be intense.
Focus sharpens on the cup
Only Martin O’Neill has managed to guide Celtic to victory over Rangers this season. Neither Brendan Rodgers nor Wilfried Nancy secured a win in their respective meetings.
That record places added emphasis on the March 8 clash. With two high-stakes away trips to Ibrox in quick succession and a place in the last four of the Scottish Cup up for grabs, it is already a date firmly marked in the diary for Celtic supporters.
The match will be shown live on Premier Sports.
