Celtic preparing swoop for forward seen as instant Iheanacho replacement

Celtic FC are facing a major decision this summer as Kelechi Iheanacho approaches the end of his contract at Parkhead.

The Nigerian forward joined the Hoops on a one-year deal in September 2025 after leaving Sevilla FC, but his time in Glasgow has failed to live up to expectations. With just three goals in 15 appearances and ongoing injury struggles, there are growing doubts over whether the club will trigger the option to extend his stay.

Celtic now appear to be planning ahead, with reports linking them to Tyrese Campbell as a potential replacement. The Sheffield United FC striker was previously the subject of interest in January, but a move failed to materialise as his club fought to avoid relegation.

With only a year left on his deal this summer, Sheffield United could be open to selling, and both Celtic and Rangers FCare said to be monitoring the situation closely.

Campbell is viewed as a strong upgrade, offering greater consistency and availability compared to Iheanacho, who has struggled with both form and fitness. While the former Manchester City FC striker has underperformed in front of goal, Campbell’s reliability and regular involvement suggest he could step in immediately and lead the line effectively.

Securing a deal early in the window would allow Celtic to move on from Iheanacho without hesitation, ensuring they avoid a late scramble for a new striker and instead enter the new season with a more dependable attacking option.
