Celtic remain the top side in the country,” says Hoops star while away on international duty

Benjamin Nygren insists Celtic are still “the best team in the country”—even though he admits he’s devastated by Brendan Rodgers’ departure.

The Swedish international, one of Rodgers’ major summer signings, has made an impressive impact since arriving from Nordsjaelland, scoring six goals so far. Speaking while on international duty, Nygren acknowledged that it has been a difficult season for Celtic off the pitch, with major fan protests and Rodgers’ exit adding to the turbulence.

“We missed out on the Champions League and have slipped up in a few games, and then Brendan Rodgers resigned,” he said. “But for me personally, things have still gone well.”

Nygren praised the passion surrounding the club, saying the intensity of outside noise reflects how deeply supporters care. “That’s the beauty of the sport and why it’s such an honour to represent Celtic,” he added. “I was sad when Rodgers left. I liked him a lot and thought he was an excellent manager. He was a huge reason why I chose to come here.”

Despite the upheaval, Nygren is confident Celtic will steady themselves.

“There has been a lot of noise,” he admitted. “But Celtic are a massive club with an enormous fanbase. I’ve had many managers in my career and I’ll probably have more. All I can do is focus on my performances and what I bring on the pitch.

“And the reason I’m sure we’ll turn things around is simple: we are the best team in the country.”
