Celtic seal full agreement for striker, player travelling to Glasgow

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has hinted that a deal for Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis could soon be finalised, with fresh reports outlining the fee involved in the proposed transfer.

The Hoops have slipped six points behind Hearts and trail Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race, raising the stakes as they look to maintain their recent dominance.

That pressure appears to have accelerated plans in the market, with Ghedjemis emerging as a key target as Celtic seek to strengthen their attacking options.

According to reports, the move for the French-Algerian winger is valued at around £6.5 million, a figure that would place the deal among Celtic’s more significant investments in recent seasons. An agreement is believed to be in place with Frosinone, while personal terms are also thought to be settled, leaving the 23-year-old set to travel to Glasgow to complete the formalities.

If confirmed, Ghedjemis would become Celtic’s first permanent signing of the window, following loan additions Julian Araujo and Tomas Cvancara.

His arrival comes at a pivotal moment, with Celtic balancing domestic challenges and European ambitions after securing a Europa League knockout-stage spot.

Ghedjemis’ rise has been rapid. After progressing through Troyes’ youth system and spells in the lower tiers of French football, he earned a move to Rouen before Frosinone secured him for a modest fee.

Since then, he has made a major impression in Serie B, contributing goals and assists while helping his side push for promotion.

Celtic will hope that momentum translates to Scotland, with the winger’s pace and direct style potentially offering the spark needed to revive their title challenge and bolster their European campaign in the months ahead.
