Celtic’s greatest threat is identified by Barry Ferguson in advance of the Cup Final.
In anticipation of the Premier Sports Cup Final at Hampden Park tomorrow, former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has identified Kyogo Furuhashi as the principal threat to the Ibrox team.
Ferguson is of the opinion that Celtic’s Japanese striker could once again be the deciding factor, as silverware and Glasgow bragging rights are at stake.
Ferguson commended Kyogo’s progress since his arrival at Celtic in 2021 during an appearance on the Go Radio Football Show.
Despite the fact that the forward’s work rate and blistering mobility have always been apparent, Ferguson observed that the 28-year-old has improved his overall game in recent seasons. Ferguson cited Kyogo’s recent strike in Celtic’s 3-0 victory over Hibernian as a prime example of his quality and composure.
The striker’s capacity to integrate precision, movement, and a clinical finish renders him an ever-present threat. He stated, “He has been a source of contention for the Rangers for an extended period.” Paul, we were conversing prior to our appearance on air; I believe he has made progress.
In my opinion, he has improved as a player in the past few years since his arrival. “His work rate, his movement, and his touch were consistently present.” There was no uncertainty regarding that; however, I believe that he is improving as he matures.
In my opinion, his goal against Hibs at the weekend was simply a display of elegance, if I may be so bold. “It is difficult for me to express that clearly, but it was an extraordinary gesture.”
Subsequently, the composure with which he enters the vicinity and then proceeds to simply roll it over is what bothers me. It is imperative that the individual who occupies the position of center back be cautious.
“They must ensure that there is consistent communication, as he is constantly on the move.” I believe he is a top-tier player.
Brendan Rodgers has an extraordinary record in the Premier Sports Cup, having only experienced one loss during his tenure as Celtic’s manager.
Furthermore, his success in derbies is well-documented, with only one defeat in 19 meetings against the Rangers. Kyogo Furuhashi’s performance in the finals and against the Rangers is a testament to his abilities.
His brace in the 2022 Premier Sports Cup Final against the Ibrox side was a masterclass in movement and finishing, and he continues to be Celtic’s go-to man for big occasions.
Kyogo is poised to once again cause havoc on the Rangers defense, as he has scored eight goals in 15 appearances against the club.
