CFL Issues Week 20 Fines to Four Players and Adds Further Punishments from Past Weeks

The Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Department of Health, Safety and Integrity oversees disciplinary matters across the league, while the Office of the Commissioner handles offences that warrant suspension.

The Department—comprising Chief Football Operations Officer Greg Dick, Vice-President of Officiating Darren Hackwood, Associate Vice-President of Football Operations Ryan Janzen, and Associate Vice-President of Health and Safety Eric Noivo—has announced four fines following incidents from Week 20.

  • Jay Person of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers has been fined for a blindside block on Saskatchewan Roughridersdefensive lineman Benoit Marion.

  • Adarius Pickett, Ottawa Redblacks linebacker, was fined for spearing Montreal Alouettes receiver Tyler Snead.

  • Montreal defensive lineman Shawn Oakman was penalized for delivering a high hit on Ottawa quarterback Tyrie Adams.

  • Calgary Stampeders quarterback Quincy Vaughn has also been fined for an illegal low block on Toronto Argonauts lineman Greg Reaves.

After further review, the league also issued three additional fines for incidents from previous weeks.

Week 19

  • Ottawa wide receiver Marco Dubois was fined for a non-football act after striking Montreal linebacker Tyrell Richards.

  • Montreal defensive lineman Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund was fined for a high hit on Ottawa quarterback Dustin Crum.

Week 18

  • Ottawa linebacker Tyron Vrede received a fine for a blindside block on Saskatchewan defensive back Sheldrick Redwine.

In keeping with CFL policy, the league does not disclose the monetary amounts of player fines or disciplinary measures relating to dress code violations, team or staff conduct, or players who have since been released.
