Chris Sutton has hit out at Arne Engels following Celtic’s 2–2 draw with Hearts, claiming the midfielder went missing during the contest at Tynecastle.
Engels completed the full 90 minutes in midfield alongside Callum McGregor and Benjamin Nygren, but Sutton was far from impressed with his contribution.
Celtic ended the match with 10 men after Auston Trusty was sent off in the second half.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Warm-Up, Sutton argued that Hearts physically dominated the champions.
He also pointed out that Celtic boss Martin O’Neill chose not to make any changes, leaving Luke McCowan and Paulo Bernardo unused on the bench.
Engels joined Celtic in 2024 in a record £11 million move from FC Augsburg. Since then, he has made 87 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists.
During his time in Glasgow, he has collected four major trophies, including two league titles, the Premier Sports Cup and the Scottish Cup.
His club performances also earned him a Belgium call-up in 2024, where he featured four times, most recently in November.
