Chris Sutton weighs in on Cristian Montano red card drama during Rangers vs Livingston clash

Chris Sutton has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Cristian Montano’s red card during Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Livingston.

The incident occurred around the 60-minute mark when Montano, last man back, brought down Djeidi Gassama in a crucial moment of the match. Sutton, speaking on Sky Sports, said:

“I’ve got to say, I don’t think he got any of the ball. Gassama got the run on him and he’s brought down. Clearly, he’s in front of Montano, and he’s brought down. Yeah, that’s the right call from the referee.”

The red card proved decisive, allowing Rangers to stage a late comeback with Emmanuel Fernandez and Mikey Moore scoring to secure a 2-2 draw.

While Rangers remain four points behind league leaders Hearts, Sutton believes Montano’s sending-off was justified and fair, highlighting the impact refereeing decisions can have on key fixtures.
