Cristiano Ronaldo has disclosed his selection for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. The 2024 Ballon d’Or champion has been determined in the wake of a rule change
and the omission of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Vinicius Junior is the presumptive winner of this year’s award following an exceptional year with Real Madrid. Jude Bellingham, a notable player for England, and Rodri, a player for Manchester City, are also contenders. On Monday evening, the Ballon d’Or will be awarded to the most outstanding player in the globe of football during the 2023/24 season. Rio Ferdinand has already determined the winner of the Champions League final, loudly repeating the phrase as Vinicius Junior scored against Borussia Dortmund. This decision was made because it appears that everyone’s attention was focused on the phrase rather than the outcome of the most significant trophy in European club football. However, the rest of the world football community is now able to weigh in. After the voting mechanism was altered by the organizers, France Football, in 2022, thirty players were nominated for the award. The honor will be decided by 100 sports journalists, one from each of the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings.
It is remarkable that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will not be considered for the award for the first time in 21 years, as they were both excluded from the shortlist of 30. It is the most that any player has ever won the award, as Messi was crowned champion for the eighth time last year. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has secured the second-highest number of victories with five, despite the fact that he currently holds the record for the most nominations with 18.
