Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘interest’ in purchasing a La Liga club is explicitly stated by Valencia’s proprietor. Peter Lim, the proprietor of Valencia, has apparently denied the possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo may acquire the La Liga club in the near future.
Valencia has been majority-owned by Lim since 2014. The business magnate from Singapore has previously been involved in English football by acquiring a 50% stake in Salford City that same year. In 2024, Lim transferred his ownership of the League Two club to co-owner Gary Neville, whom he had previously appointed as Valencia’s manager a decade prior.
Nevertheless, there have been rumours that Ronaldo, a former Manchester United teammate of Neville, is interested in purchasing Valencia from Lim. In 2015, Lim’s organisation, Mint Media, acquired a portion of Ronaldo’s image rights, establishing a working relationship between the two. In recent months, Ronaldo has been associated with the acquisition of Valencia, as a result of allegations made by Spanish radio station Cope Cadena that Lim had informed PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi that the club was for sale.
According to reports, the 71-year-old established the price at £340 million (€400 million). Mundo Deportivo columnist Julian Redondo sparked speculation regarding Ronaldo’s potential involvement in a takeover by asserting that the Portuguese striker would become “the next owner of Valencia if they remain in La Liga.”Lim has previously stated to Singaporean media that he has no interest in selling Valencia.
He reaffirmed his family’s long-term dedication to the club in March by appointing his son, Kiat Lim, as club president. Chan Lay Hoon, the former president of Valencia, expressed his satisfaction with the decision to transfer the baton to Kiat Lim, the son of our largest shareholder. “This appointment serves as a robust endorsement of Peter’s unwavering dedication to the club and its future.”
Ronaldo has refrained from commenting on the speculation regarding a potential Valencia acquisition. The Al-Nassr forward is presently concentrating on the latter stages of his playing career. Nevertheless, in February, he expressed his aspiration to become a club proprietor after retiring from the sport. Ronaldo disclosed to Canal 11, “I am still playing, enjoying football, scoring goals, and making a difference, despite the fact that I will be 40 tomorrow.”
“I never imagined it would be feasible, of course.” However, in my opinion, it has been a quite magnificent challenge.I continue to enjoy training. Indeed, I continue to derive pleasure from training. Is it the same as it was when I was 20? No, it is not identical; however, I continue to possess the same enthusiasm.
For instance, I continue to derive pleasure from performing a concluding drill, competing with others, and employing my left and right feet. It is peculiar because numerous individuals, including my acquaintances, assert that you have no life. It is accurate; however, I appreciate it and am aware that it will conclude in one, two, or three years. I am unaware of the outcome and am not concerned.
Ronaldo concluded that his next steps after football were as follows: “Being a coach is illogical, as I have the opportunity to become an owner. Why should I be a coach, sporting director, or CEO?” That is my aspiration, and I am confident that I will succeed. In reality, I will provide you with additional information: I aspire to have a variety of organisations, rather than a single one.
