Danny Rohl provides double injury update for Rangers following Hibs victory

After netting a spectacular acrobatic goal against Ferencváros last Thursday, the North Macedonian forward was forced off after sustaining a knock and was unable to recover in time for last night’s clash at Ibrox.

He was one of five changes made by Danny Rohl, who was compelled to rotate his squad due to a combination of injuries and fatigue.

Providing an update, the German coach said the player is improving day by day and could yet be available for Saturday’s trip to Tynecastle. Rohl also noted that Nasser Djiga has been progressing steadily but is now set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations, forcing further defensive reshuffling. With matches coming every few days, Rohl admitted constant decision-making has become unavoidable as he looks to do what is best for the club.

Youssef Chermiti led the attack against David Gray’s side, but Rohl remains hopeful that Miovski will return for the weekend. Nicolas Raskin was named on the bench after dealing with a minor muscle issue and was only fit enough to feature late on.

Explaining the situation, Rohl revealed Raskin had not trained for three days and remained a doubt right up until matchday, only passing a morning fitness test. While never considered fit enough to start, the midfielder’s late cameo was viewed as a positive.

Rohl added that he had lacked a defensive midfield option off the bench in the previous game and was pleased to have Raskin available to inject energy late on.

The head coach also highlighted his selection dilemmas elsewhere, weighing up options such as Findlay and Gassama.

He pointed out that Gassama’s impact off the bench nearly proved decisive, underlining the importance of having multiple options available during a demanding run of fixtures.
