Rangers are weighing up the possibility of bringing former stars Neil McCann and Steven Davis back to the club to strengthen Danny Röhl’s coaching staff, according to Rangers Review.
The Ibrox hierarchy are exploring options for another first-team coach as Röhl continues to reshape his backroom team following his appointment last month.
The 36-year-old has already added assistant Matthias Kaltenbach and performance specialist Sascha Lense, but is believed to want further support on the training pitch.
McCann and Davis are among the names being considered, while Under-18s coach Steven Smith — who briefly served as caretaker after Russell Martin’s departure — is also reportedly in the frame.
There is growing expectation that a familiar face could return under the German coach, who is also thought to be targeting a dedicated set-piece specialist to maximise opportunities from dead-ball situations.
Rangers Review reports that Röhl is reviewing his staffing structure during the international break after an inconsistent start at Ibrox.
Since taking over on October 20, he has won three and lost three in all competitions.
While his 100% league record remains intact with three Premiership victories, Europe has been less forgiving — Rangers have yet to win in the Europa League and sit bottom of their group after four matches.
They also exited the Scottish League Cup with a 3–1 defeat to Celtic in the semi-final.
A 3–0 win over Dundee last weekend lifted Rangers to fourth in the table.
Röhl’s side sit 12 points behind leaders Hearts, though they have a game in hand, and trail second-placed Celtic by five.
Rangers resume domestic action against Livingston next weekend before hosting Braga in search of their first Europa League points.
