Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, didn’t like Mikel Arteta’s vague comments as he continued his feud with Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola told Mikel Arteta to stop spreading rumors about Manchester City and said the club was ready to ‘war’ with Arsenal.

Since the heated match at the Etihad on Sunday, when Arsenal director Tim Lewis got up without shaking hands with his City rivals, there has been a lot of bad blood between the two clubs. It has not been fun for Arsenal to be called “masters of the dark arts” this week, and John Stones agreed with that name after the game.

After City beat Watford in the Carabao Cup, Guardiola had nice things to say about Arteta. He said that he had texted his friend after the game and strongly denied that Arsenal’s players had been after Rodri. But Arteta’s vague answer to Arsenal’s use of magic was, “I was there for four years.” I know everything there is to know. I know that. His words, “Believe me,” didn’t go over well with his old boss, Pep Guardiola. Guardiola was especially angry because he hired Arteta as a coach and then helped him move to Arsenal, even though City could have turned down an offer from a foe.

“Next time he has to be more clear exactly what does it mean,” Guardiola said. “He said he had been here for four years, and we know exactly what happened because it’s connected to all 155 charges. Maybe that’s what it’s about; he might know something about that. Or he might have had something like that. I’m not sure because I need to see more clearly what happened next time.

As a sign of how well I get along with him, I hope this question is asked next time. He knows what he meant when he said, “I was here, and I know what’s going on here, instead of leaving that up to speculation to be more specific.”

Guardiola said that Erling Haaland will be ready to play Newcastle even though he had to fly to Norway this week to attend the death of a close family friend. When Haaland scored against Arsenal, it was the 100th goal of his City career. However, he made headlines for his behavior at the end of the game; he hit Thomas Partey with the ball after John Stones scored, told Arteta to “stay humble,” and called Gabriel Jesus a “f****** clown” when the game was over.

None of those acts got Haaland in trouble with the law, and when asked about the comments this week, Arteta tried to put an end to them. Guardiola doesn’t think his No. 9 will be “proud” of what he did, but he did say that he understood why Haaland got angry at Arsenal.

“I would say that sometimes the emotions are so there, when you are, you know…” he told me. “After the game, Gabriel said it perfectly: “This is a war, we have to challenge and push the other team.” And in the end, what can you do? So, we have to. Okay, you make me angry. I’m there.

“Do you want a war?” We’re at war now. What should I do now? Try the motion again after the motion. I think he’s not proud, but pay attention. “I understand the kind of challenge that Arsenal faces.”
