David Strelec has become a prospective transfer target for Celtic, as Brendan Rodgers aims to secure the £8 million Champions League competitor as a potential substitute for Kyogo.Celtic is contemplating an acquisition of David Strelec, the forward from Slovan Bratislava, who is valued at £8 million.

According to Record Sport, the Hoops have prioritised the Slovakian international, who faced them during their 5-1 victory in the Champions League last November, on their list of desired acquisitions for January.

Brendan Rodgers is seeking to acquire a new forward prior to the conclusion of the transfer window on Monday evening. Among the players under consideration is Strelec, in addition to Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden.

Celtic is currently evaluating various alternatives as they seek to secure a replacement for Kyogo, who transferred to Rennes earlier this month.

Middlesbrough has previously had a proposal for Strelec rejected, and Slovan has explicitly stated that they will only consider selling their prized asset if the financial terms are satisfactory. The 23-year-old athlete has recorded seven goals in 28 appearances for the Slovak national team.

He has scored a total of 15 goals for Slovan Bratislava this season, which encompasses five goals in the Champions League and its qualifying rounds.Brøndby striker Kvistgaarden represents an additional option; however, a significant disparity persists between Celtic’s valuation and that of the Danish club, which commences at £10 million, exclusive of add-ons.

Concurrently, Celtic has been associated with a potential acquisition of Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill. He will be out of contract at Turf Moor this summer and has thus far been unable to reach an agreement regarding an extension.
