Declan Rice was incensed by Thomas Partey’s actions during the final phases of Real Madrid’s victory. Declan Rice, the midfielder for Arsenal, did not conceal his frustration when his teammate,
Thomas Partey, was involved in a costly collision during the Gunners’ Champions League victory over Real Madrid. Rice played a critical role in both legs of Arsenal’s quarter-final against Los Blancos, scoring twice in a 3-0 victory at home and delivering a spectacular performance at the Bernabeu.
However, the midfielder was incensed with Partey for receiving an absurd yellow card five minutes before the conclusion of the second leg. He had previously avoided a suspension after his first-half yellow card was invalidated by a VAR decision to reverse the penalty awarded to him. During a brief altercation involving Antonio Rudiger,
was cautioned for knocking over former Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos. Rudiger had appeared to stamp on Ceballos earlier in the game, but he was not punished. Rice was aware of the consequences of Partey’s late caution as Arsenal was on the brink of victory. The Ghanaian will be suspended for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
In the end, Arsenal emerged as comfortable 2-1 victors against an uncharacteristically toothless Real Madrid team, despite Vinicius Jr.’s immediate equaliser following Saka’s opening goal. Rice was the undisputed star of the show in both legs, stealing the show with a pair of outstanding performances and receiving Player of the Match accolades after each match.
