Declan Rice’s fitness status is updated by a journalist prior to Arsenal’s match against Nottingham Forest. In the Gunners’ final match prior to the international break, a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, Rice was substituted in the 71st minute.

He remained with the club and did not travel with England for their UEFA Nations League fixtures this month due to a toe injury. Providing an update on the midfielder, journalist Charles Watts stated (via TBR Football):

“I wanted to begin with the midfield because I believe it is intriguing to see what Mikel Arteta may potentially do or the options he has to choose from for this weekend’s game.”

“Now, of course, a significant portion of this discussion is centred on the fitness of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, but more specifically, on whether or not Rice is well enough to begin this game.

” Obviously, the toe injury prevented him from finishing the game against Chelsea, and he was unable to participate for England.

However, it is anticipated that he will be able to recover for this weekend. Therefore, it is hoped that this will be the case. Rice has contributed two assists and scored one goal in 14 appearances for Arsenal in various competitions this season.

In light of injury concerns, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has provided an explanation for his decision to forgo international duty. In September, while on international duty with Norway, Martin Odegaard sustained an ankle injury.

He only returned to action earlier this month and played the entire 90 minutes in Arsenal’s stalemate against Chelsea, contributing an assist.
