Despite my intense desire to join Chelsea, I ultimately pursued a transfer to Newcastle United.

I was fervently seeking to join Chelsea; however, I ultimately compelled Newcastle United to transfer me.In the summer of 2022, Chelsea made an attempt to acquire Gordon from Everton; however, the agreement was not successful.

Newcastle ultimately acquired the winger for £45 million during the subsequent transfer window. Gordon’s refusal to train during his final days at Everton necessitated a transfer to St James’ Park during the final days of the January window.

 

Gordon has since become a critical member of the St James’ Park team, netting 15 goals in 76 appearances and earning a spot in the England squad.

 

Gordon was enquired about the possibility of collaborating with Thomas Tuchel, who unsuccessfully pursued him for Chelsea two years ago, following his most recent call-up. “To be frank, it was quite close.
