Despite the expansion of the electric vehicle market, Tesla’s sales in Europe have declined by 49%. FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — According to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association,
Tesla electric vehicle sales in Europe experienced a 49% decline in the first two months of the year in comparison to the same period a year prior, despite an increase in the overall number of electric vehicles.. Tesla’s ageing vehicle inventory has been the subject of complaints, as well as a substantial backlash against CEO Elon Musk and his association with the
Trump administration in the United States. Musk’s endorsement of the far-right Alternative for Germany party in Germany’s national election last month was met with widespread condemnation in Europe. Tesla is encountering an escalating level of competition from major manufacturers, such as China’s BYD,
as they increase the production of electric vehicles. BYD announced on Tuesday that its electric and hybrid vehicle sales increased by 40%, resulting in a record revenue of 777.1 billion yuan ($107 billion) for 2024. BYD recently disclosed an ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging system that it claims is nearly as efficient as a petrol station fill.
Tesla vehicles and dealerships have been the subject of protests in the United States and Europe as a result of Musk’s endorsement of the AfD and his role in advising U.S. President Donald Trump on the drastic reduction of the US federal government. German politicians and opinion media have sharply criticised Musk for his support of the AfD. Nevertheless, Tesla’s global sales are declining. Subsequent
