Despite the fact that Sandro Tonali being suspended, his teammates have surprised the Newcastle star
Sandro Tonali thanked his Newcastle United teammates and “everyone in the city” for being there for him during his 10-month ban.
Tonali’s punishment for breaking the rules about betting wasn’t even set in stone when players, staff, and fans got together after his last Premier League game of the season in October. After the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, fans stayed to honor Tonali. As they walked off the field, Kieran Trippier put his arm around his emotional teammate. Soon after, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton went to the team hotel to hang out with Tonali after the details of his ban were made public before the Wolves game.
Tonali had a hard time getting used to life without playing during the first few months of his ban. This was especially true for Newcastle, who had a lot of injuries and needed him. Tonali “never felt alone,” though, and the 24-year-old kept counting on the help of his staff, teammates, and, of course, the fans who sang his name. After having to wait so long to play again, Tonali is eager to repay everyone who helped him get back to the field last month at Nottingham Forest.
He told Sky Sports, “It felt great because the fans went crazy after the first game.” “After the second game, the same for Bruno and Joe, since they were always there for me while I was banned.”
That was the pair of players, along with Tripps and Jamaal Lascelles, who helped me the most. But every player on the team did, which surprised me since I had only been here for two months. “Oh no,” I thought. It’s really hard now. But everyone who lives and works in Newcastle has been there for me and helped me.
