Tim Patrick has been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to multiple reports, and the Detroit Lions are in the process of making a move at wide receiver. At present, it is unclear what Detroit is obtaining in exchange.
Patrick, 31, joined the Lions in 2024 after playing for the Denver Broncos for four seasons. In his sole season with Detroit, he was a consistent secondary option, accumulating 33 receptions for 394 yards and three touchdowns. Patrick has accumulated 176 receptions, 2,403 yards, and 15 touchdowns in 71 games played during his NFL tenure.
Patrick had a lethargic camp, as Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press observed. It is probable that he would have started the season as Detroit’s fifth wide receiver. His departure could provide an opportunity for Jackson Meeks, who had been competing for a roster position during the preseason.
The Lions’ wide receiver depth chart now includes Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, Isaac TeSlaa, and Dominic Lovett, as the 53-man roster deadline approaches. It is uncertain whether Detroit will reinstate Meeks or pursue an alternative course of action.
