Detroit Lions: Standouts and Concerns Uncovered in PFF Grades After Ravens defeat

Detroit Lions PFF Grades Spotlight Stars and Weak Links in Ravens Victory

The Detroit Lions made a statement in Baltimore on Monday Night Football, taking down the Ravens 38-30. The stat sheet showed dominance — seven sacks, 224 rushing yards, and another huge night from David Montgomery — but Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades dig deeper into who stood out and who struggled in Week 3.

Trench Domination
Detroit’s offensive line set the tone. Penei Sewell and Tate Ratledge were nearly perfect in both phases, with Sewell earning an eye-popping 99.3 run-blocking grade. Add Montgomery’s 151 yards and two touchdowns, and it’s clear why Baltimore’s defense had no answers up front.

Mixed Bag at Receiver
The Lions’ young wideouts had a tougher night. Rookie Isaac TeSlaa earned the lowest offensive grade, while Kalif Raymond was mostly neutralized. Thankfully, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Montgomery picked up the slack.

Defensive Front Shines
Aidan Hutchinson was a force again, logging a sack, a tackle for loss, and relentless pressure. Jack Campbell and Malcolm Cunningham combined for 15 tackles, cementing the linebacking corps as a strength.

Secondary Still Searching
The defensive backfield remains the team’s biggest concern. Second-year CB Terrion Arnold graded poorly in coverage (48.0), and Brian Branch also had one of his rougher games. Even so, the pass rush’s seven sacks masked those struggles.

The Takeaway
PFF’s breakdown reinforces the Lions’ identity: they win in the trenches. The offensive line and pass rush powered the win, while the secondary remains a work in progress. At 2-1, Detroit looks every bit the contender analysts projected entering 2025 — with room to grow.
