Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak may finally be on the brink of success.
The Newcastle United striker has been the subject of the Reds’ pursuit for the past month. The Magpies rejected Liverpool’s offer of £110 million, but Isak, who scored 27 goals last season, has expressed his desire to join the Premier League champions.
The Sweden international has informed Newcastle that he will not be playing for the club again and has declared himself unavailable. He has been absent from Eddie Howe’s team’s initial two matches of the season, which included a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Liverpool at St James’ Park earlier this week.
Newcastle has been unsuccessful in their efforts to secure a prospective replacement for Isak. Hugo Ekitike elected to join Liverpool, Benjamin Sesko transferred to Manchester United, and Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both selected Chelsea. Furthermore, Brentford has not yet been amenable to the sale of Yoane Wissa, and Wolverhampton Wolves have been hesitant to permit Jørgen Strand Larsen to leave.
Nevertheless, it seems that the Magpies have made progress in their efforts to secure a new center-forward. In an agreement valued at approximately £80 million, they have consented to acquire Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart. Last season, Woltemade scored 17 goals for the German team and assisted the under-21s in reaching the European Championships final, where they were ultimately defeated by England.
Bayern Munich has been interested in the 23-year-old, but they were unable to negotiate a fee with Stuttgart. As a result, Newcastle have gained an advantage over the Bundesliga champions. Woltemade intends to proceed to Tyneside to finalize his transition.
Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sports Germany, made a remark on X: “The transaction has been completed.” Full agreement with Stuttgart: €85 million fixed fee plus €5 million in add-ons. #NUFC. The athlete has already bid the squad farewell and is on his way.
Liverpool may now submit an additional offer for Isak in anticipation of Woltemade’s anticipated transfer to Newcastle. On the day of the Liverpool encounter, the former Real Sociedad marksman met with the Magpies’ ownership, and his position regarding his future remains unchanged. Craig Hope, a contributor to The Daily Mail, stated on YouTube that the senior delegation from the ownership visited Isak’s residence on Monday. Isak responded, “I am not interested in playing at this time.” I require that relocation.
“Sources informed me that there was a recent realization that relationships may be irreparable. This is the reason for the increase in pace this week in the pursuit of those objectives.
“I do not believe that the fee negotiation between Liverpool and Newcastle is the most significant obstacle to overcome in this situation.” Liverpool will undoubtedly submit an offer if they observe that [Woltemade] is approved. The likelihood of the British record contract at Liverpool being executed has significantly increased.
