For this summer, Arsenal wants to get a striker, and Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee has been linked to the club.
Arsenal still wants to sign Joshua Zirkzee, a striker for Bologna, this summer. The 23-year-old did very well in Serie A last season and has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United, and AC Milan, among other teams.
It is known that Mikel Arteta wants to improve the forward line over the next few months. The club’s leaders know that they need a killer in the final third to help them win the biggest titles. It has been said that Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, and Alexander Isak could all move to Emirates Stadium, but all three are expected to ask for big fees.
Though Zirkzee might be a bit cheaper, and because he is still young, he fits in with the Gunners’ new strategy of signing young players with a lot of promise. Sky Sports says Arsenal is still interested in the Dutch player, who played 37 times last season and scored 12 goals and set up 7 others.
Arsenal and Manchester United are said to be keeping an eye on Zirkzee’s position, and AC Milan is said to be trying very hard to sign him. Sky in Italy says that last week, people from the Italian side went to London to talk with people from Zirkzee’s side. They didn’t agree on anything, but they are still in touch.
It is said that Zirkzee’s deal has a £34 million release clause, which means that Arsenal can afford to sign him. Last month, the scorer was asked about his future, and it was interesting to note that he did not rule out leaving Bologna.
“After the holidays, we’ll see what will happen,” the young attacker told Sky Sports. So far, I know that I will play for Bologna in the Champions League, but I can’t say anything else. Many things are happening at the moment. We plan to finish the season well and then check back after the holidays to see what happens.
Zirkzee hasn’t played for the Netherlands’ senior team yet, so he isn’t going to Germany with Ronald Koeman’s team this summer. That could be a good thing for Edu and Arteta because they want to get work done early before flying to the U.S. for the club’s pre-season trip.
