Medical Booked – Celtic Closing in on €6m Rated Striker Deal
With just 24 hours left in the window, Celtic have finally kicked their transfer plans into gear.
Tomas Cvancara arrived on loan earlier this month, but Martin O’Neill has been clear that one addition up front would not be enough.
Now, major developments from Germany suggest reinforcements are imminent. According to respected journalist Florian Plettenberg, Celtic have reached a verbal agreement with Junior Adamu over a move to Glasgow, while talks with SC Freiburg are said to be at an advanced stage.
The biggest signal yet? Adamu is already travelling for his medical. This has moved beyond interest and into action. Although rival clubs are still attempting to hijack the deal late on, Celtic remain confident they can get it over the line.
The final structure has yet to be confirmed, but the 24-year-old forward is firmly in the Hoops’ sights. Adamu joined Freiburg from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023 for around €6 million, arriving with a reputation for pace and physicality. His time in the Bundesliga, however, hasn’t fully clicked.
He has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice and providing one assist, but has struggled for consistent minutes. That situation has opened the door for a move, with both player and club seemingly open to a fresh start.
For O’Neill, the Austrian international brings attributes Celtic have lacked — speed, strength, and depth in a demanding schedule. With fixtures piling up and attacking options stretched, his arrival would provide a timely boost.
This window has tested the patience of supporters, with criticism over the lack of permanent signings growing. Landing another striker now would ease that pressure, even if many feel the move could have come earlier.
It’s not signed yet, and late twists are always possible, but with personal terms agreed and a medical underway, Celtic are closer than ever to adding a second striker before the deadline.
Celtic face Falkirk on Sunday before attention turns fully to deadline day, with the title race tightening — the Hoops currently sit nine points behind Hearts and two behind Rangers heading into the run-in.
