People are very angry at Steve Clarke’s Celtic players because Scotland failed at Euro 2024 in Germany.

Steve Clarke is under a lot of pressure after a heavy loss to Germany, a draw against Switzerland, and then a 1-0 loss to Hungary in the last game of the group.

But not before Callum McGregor and Anthony Ralston, who both seem to be getting unfair criticism, mostly online.

So much so that Celtic felt they had to respond to Graeme Souness’s comments about McGregor. Now, Marvin Bartley has responded to more online criticism of Anthony Ralston.

Bartley defends Ralston against claims that he is “easy and lazy” in Scotland

The former Livingston player was responding to harsh criticism of Ralston on social media site X. The Celtic defender was getting a lot of bad feedback after Scotland was knocked out of the tournament.

In response to a comment that Scotland manager Steve Clarke was cocky for picking Ralston over James Forrest for the important group game against Hungary, Bartley said [X], “It’s easy and lazy to always blame one man, mate!”

“I thought he did pretty well last night.” I understand that other players need to play, but who says Forrest can’t also play wing back?

There does seem to be a story going around online about how Ralston was picked for the Scotland team in Germany. In reality, all he did was answer his country’s call and give it his all, as he always does.

People were very critical of the Celtic defender’s lost pass that let Switzerland score the equalizer, even though experts like Ally McCoist could see that it wasn’t all his fault.

Now that the tournament is over, Ralston, McGregor, Greg Taylor, and James Forrest can rest and get ready for the next season. Celtic is excited to defend their title and play in the group stage of the Champions League.
