Eddie Howe delivers his verdict on Newcastle United F.C with a strong message at the end of Premier League season 2023/24
Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Newcastle’s boss, was on the field when the Magpies did their lap of honor, and Eddie Howe is sure that big things are going to happen at St. James’ Park.
Eddie Howe says the Magpies’ owners in Saudi Arabia are still “very serious” about taking the team to the next level.
With the support of 80% of the club’s owners, Newcastle United has received £400 million in transfers and has spent £10 million on training facilities. The club used to be struggling and was in danger of relegation. That has made Newcastle a European contender instead of a team that always had to worry about going down.
People from PIF have also put money into LIV Golf, UFC, racing, and Formula One, but Howe is still sure that the project in Newcastle will grow.
Howe stated, “They (PIF) are very serious about it.” There is no sign that says otherwise. The problem with those games is that you can bet anything you want. Here, you definitely can’t, and I think that’s the point. That’s what everyone in the football world is talking about right now.
It’s still unclear how much Newcastle will spend on new players this summer, but at St. James’ Park, everything will be done. Howe is honest, though, about how well Newcastle can do in the next few years.
Howe made it clear that his goal to lead Newcastle to the top will never change, even if the team has more money or other tools.
He said, “I don’t think you can look at it as a race. Everyone wants the club to grow quickly.” There are rules that say the club can only move forward at a certain speed.
“I know that everyone yesterday wants to be successful. It’s sometimes my job to stop that and give a more accurate picture of what’s going on at the football club.
Howe was at a meeting in Northumberland with Toon head Yasir Al-Rumayyan outside of Newcastle with the club’s owners.
“We are trying to grow it, but the players and staff have done incredibly well in the time I have been here,” he said. This made it sound like everyone agreed on how fast Newcastle could grow.
I think we’ve made a lot of work quickly, and everyone has done a great job. I get that people want more, but you have to admit that we’ve done pretty well so far.
“The ambition is there, but you have to work within the reality and the reality is we are not the number one club off the pitch yet in terms of income or the number one club in lots of areas, so for us to get there takes a lot of hard work.”
