Eddie Howe delivers the latest injury report on Alexander Isak after their win against Wolves
Eddie Howe is still dealing with a number of injury issues, and Newcastle United is still unbeaten in all tournaments.
The Magpies kept their perfect start to the season going with a 2-1 win over Wolves at Molineux, thanks to two amazing goals from Fabian Schar and Harvey Barnes. But they didn’t come back from the Black Country totally unscathed. Alexander Isak was taken off at halftime because he hurt himself near the end of the first half.
Because Isak wasn’t there, Howe had to change things up. In the second period, Anthony Gordon played in the middle, and Barnes, who won the game in the end, played on the left. Fans must have been worried when the Swedish international was taken off during halftime. After the game, Howe gave a report on the striker but couldn’t say for sure what was wrong with him.
It’s time to look at the most recent injury news for Newcastle United. Here’s what Howe has said about Isak’s injury and when their players could be back in action:
What did Howe say about Isak after the game at Molineux? “It was more his eye, so I’m not sure what the problem was, but we knew he had to come off.” I really hope not, because he’s such an important player for us.
Isak got three goals for Sweden during the international break. He also scored the game-winning goal for Newcastle against Spurs two weeks ago. One of the first names on the team sheet, and they will hope he is healthy enough to play against Fulham this weekend.
David Wilson
Wilson is still out with a back issue, which makes concerns about Isak’s health even more important. At first, it was thought that the former Bournemouth player might be able to play again before the international break. However, Howe recently said that he is behind schedule on his recovery:
It’s not like Callum has had a delay, but he is a little behind where we wanted him to be. What Howe said. “We thought he might be training right now to get ready for the games, but he’s not there yet.” He’s likely not quite where we wanted him to be yet.
Wilson isn’t sure if he will be able to play when United goes to Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Miles Lewis
Miley hurt his foot earlier this summer, before the team started back for pre-season training. He was supposed to come back at the end of this month, and Howe just recently said that he is “on track” for that date.
