Eddie Howe has already informed Newcastle United supporters of the expectations for the “high-level” replacement of Dan Burn.

Lloyd Kelly is anticipated to make his fifth Premier League appearance for Newcastle United upon the resumption of club football following the international break.Kelly arrived at the club on a free transfer from Bournemouth in the summer.

However, he has been relegated to a regular role as a substitute thus far this season due to the performances of Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, and Lewis Hall, which have prevented him from being included in the starting lineup.

Nevertheless, Kelly may be eligible to receive a starting position against Julen Lopetegui’s team, as Burn is expected to be suspended for the match against the Hammers.

The 26-year-old was substituted at halftime during his final Premier League appearance against Fulham at Craven Cottage in September.

However, he demonstrated his abilities in conjunction with Schar during their Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea last month. One of the primary reasons Newcastle acquired Kelly this summer was his capacity to play as both a left-back and a centre-back.

Although supporters have not had the opportunity to observe the Cherries player extensively, Howe has already informed them of what to anticipate when he is granted a chance in the first team.

Howe expressed his confidence in the defender’s abilities during an interview with the Gazette prior to their August visit to the Vitality Stadium, stating, “I believe you witnessed a glimpse of his potential in pre-season; he has the ability to bring a strong defensive mindset to any position.” One of the qualities that we particularly admired about him is his true versatility, as he is capable of playing as both a left-back and a center-half.

He is a phenomenal athlete, capable of covering both short and long distances, and possesses truly remarkable agility for a defender.

I believe that he has been at a high level of technical proficiency and has used the ball effectively since his arrival. Therefore, I anticipate that you will observe these attributes.

Newcastle’s match against the Hammers is scheduled for Monday, November 25th at 8 p.m. due to the congested nature of the Premier League. If the results on Saturday and Sunday are unfavourable, they may begin the match in 13th place in the rankings.

However, Howe’s team could conclude the day in third place if they secure a victory and other teams achieve favourable results.
