Eddie Howe conveys a message to the squad prior to the West Ham match, which Newcastle United delivered with a “blow.”
Burn was issued his fifth yellow card of the season against Nottingham Forest prior to the international break and will be unable to participate in the match against the Hammers due to a suspension.
Burn had contributed to the formation of a highly effective defensive unit, which had conceded only once in the three matches preceding the break, in collaboration with Fabian Schar, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento, and Nick Pope.
Nevertheless, Burn’s absence will necessitate a reorganization of Howe’s defensive lineup on Monday night. Lloyd Kelly appears to be the ideal replacement for Burn and is expected to be positioned in the center of the defense alongside Schar.
Kelly has not appeared in a Premier League match since September; however, he demonstrated his abilities in the position during the Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea last month. The 26-year-old has been required to exercise patience during his initial days on Tyneside;
however, as Howe stated to the Gazette, Monday night presents an opportunity for an individual to make a positive impression in anticipation of the forthcoming bustling holiday season.
“It is a disappointment to lose Dan, as the defensive unit has been performing well in recent weeks,” stated United’s head coach.
“I believed that Dan was exceptional against Nottingham Forest. He executed his role exceptionally well, effectively managed crosses, and his mobility and aerial prowess were instrumental in our victory.
“He will be greatly missed for his leadership abilities; however, it presents an opportunity for another individual to seize.
We have players who are eager to participate, so despite the fact that we will mourn Dan, we have talented players who are eager to join us.
