It was a depressing 0-0 draw between England and Slovenia at Euro 2024, but Gareth Southgate was still positive.

After England’s poor 0-0 draw with Slovenia at Euro 2024 on Tuesday, fans booed and threw cups at Gareth Southgate in an interview. Southgate was defiant.

The Three Lions played poorly for the third straight game in Cologne, but they still won Group C even though they only won once and scored two goals.

After a lackluster 1-0 win over Serbia and a 1-1 tie with Denmark, England failed to show many that they were worthy of winning Euro 2024 at the RheinEnergieStadion.

Fans with loudspeakers booed Southgate and his players during halftime and after the game was over.

“I understand the story being told to me. “That’s better for the team than it being against them,” Southgate said in the news conference after the game.

But it’s making the setting strange to work in. I haven’t seen any other team qualify and get the same.”

Some of the more angry England fans chose to throw plastic cups onto the field as he went over to cheer. Southgate, on the other hand, was happy with the effort.

After the game, he told ITV, “Well, I thought we were much better with the ball.” We’ve made some good opportunities, but it’s hard work for us right now.

“We’re not quite getting that break in front of the goal.” I believe the new boys made a great difference in the game.

The fact that we kept a clean sheet showed that we were the best team in the group. I can see why some people would react that way, but this is a strange place for us to play.

England’s close win over Serbia in the first game was the only one of the four teams in Group C that came out on top.

England won their group with five points, which came from one win and two draws. Slovenia made it to the round of 16 as the runner-up with only three points.

Even though Denmark also got three points, they had to be one of the four best third-place teams because they had a worse record with penalties than Slovenia.

Serbia only scored one goal in their three group games, an equalizer against Slovenia in the 95th minute. They finished at the bottom of the table with just two points, just days after threatening to quit the tournament.

Southgate has been heavily criticized throughout England’s group-stage campaign, which got worse when they lost to Denmark last time.

Yes, I’m sure of myself more now than I was five days ago. “A lot of things are beginning to fit together,” Southgate said.

It was hard for us to get ready for the game. It’s great that players like Marc Guehi and the rest of the defense have played well. This is something that can be built upon.

“Today, we looked more dangerous, and our substitutes made a big difference. Now we just need to turn those chances into goals.”
