Simon Jordan, who used to be the head of Crystal Palace, has sent a message to Newcastle United about their pursuit of Marc Guehi.

Palace has turned down three offers from Newcastle to buy the England back, and Sky Sports reports that a fourth offer, thought to be around £65 million with add-ons, is “likely” to be turned down too. They will have to break their own record to get Guehi in the last two weeks of the trade window.

Jordan, who used to be the head of Crystal Palace, has spoken out about the situation. He says Newcastle will need to raise their offer to £70 million if they want to get Guehi this summer.

Jordan said on talkSPORT, “I think Palace, like most clubs, will try to get the most they can.” I believe they should aim for more than £70 million. Leicester paid £70 million to Chelsea to get Wesley Fofana.

“Marc Guehi is about the same age as Fofana, or maybe a year older when he was sold. But now is a time when center backs are very hard to find, especially good ones who can play the way he can.”

“Palace has every right to push this as far as they can, and they have standards to follow.” No matter what Financial Fair Play says, Newcastle can print money thanks to their owner, so if you want the best center back or one of the best center backs in English football, pay Crystal Palace what they want.

“Crystal Palace sold Michael Olise, so they have money, a center-back, and a manager in Oliver Glasner that they think they can build around. So why would they sell him?” Steve Parish said that the deals they were getting were not good enough.

Newcastle has had three bids turned down so far, and a fourth is likely to be turned down too. Jordan said, “If Newcastle want to fiddle and fart around and go up by five-million-pound tranches, they can fiddle and fart around and get him at the end of the transfer window when they finally reach Palace’s valuation, which is £70 million, and you can have this player otherwise go away.”
