English Football Pundit Rio Ferdinand fires out a strong message to Premier League over Man City’s 115 charges as Manchester City wins the title for the Fourth (4th) time in a row
It was charged that City broke the law from 2009 to 2018 in February 2023, but the problem hasn’t been solved yet, and the club is still the best at football. A hearing could happen later this year to look into the charges against City. They have always rejected the claims.
Ferdinand talked to co-host Joel Beya on Monday’s (May 20) episode of the Vibe with FIVE show and praised Arsenal for going up against City all the way to the end. He did say, though, that the Premier League needs to handle the charges against them as soon as possible.
“Arsenal put upward a great fight and, as you said, this is against the most formidable Premier League team we’ve ever seen, accusations aside,” he said.
“We’ll watch to see what unfolds there, and you know what I’m not even arguing Man City about it, I think for football in broad terms, the broadcasters, media, fans, and Man City players, coaches, and everyone linked to that club, there’s a cloud over football [and] Man City with these charges.”
“The charges were first made public two years ago, and since then they’ve won two Premier Leagues.” They were given two Premier League titles without being stopped, so the people in charge need to get this done for the sake of the game.
Out of the 115 charges, 54 are for Manchester City not giving correct financial information and 35 are for the club not cooperating with the Premier League’s officials. There are 14 charges against them for not giving correct information about payments to players and managers. Seven of the charges are for breaking the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and the other five are for breaking UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
All 115 claims against City have been strongly rejected, and the company has promised to clear their name.
