English former professional footballer Danny Murphy explains in details the one area Manchester City needs to work on to help them secure the premier league title this season

At the conclusion of their most recent Premier League season, Manchester City achieved a historic feat.

To be more precise, Pep Guardiola’s team achieved the unprecedented feat of winning four consecutive league titles after accruing 91 points from their 38 league games.

During the most recent summer transfer window, City have witnessed numerous players transferring in and out of the Etihad Stadium.

For instance, the Blues have acquired Savinho from Troyes on a permanent basis, while also disposing of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid and Sergio Gomez to Real Sociedad.

A pundit has proposed that the Blues consider strengthening their squad in the upcoming days, as the summer window is set to close at the end of the month once the new league campaign has commenced.

Danny Murphy maintains that Manchester City require the acquisition of a midfielder.

Danny Murphy stated the following regarding City’s roster as it prepares for the upcoming season during an interview with talkSPORT (12/8 20:07).

He stated, “The only instance in which City appeared vulnerable was when Rodri was absent, whether it was due to luck, the right mentality, the right physicality, the right fitness, or the right training.”

“So, are they planning to appoint an individual to fill the void and alleviate his workload?”

“Well, it is not necessary for the player to be identical.” They may simply be an individual who specializes in that role in a different manner, such as a defensive individual.

City’s performance is diminished in the absence of Rodri.
Last season, City demonstrated their vulnerability when Rodri is absent from the team, as Murphy previously noted.

In particular, the Spaniard was unable to participate in the three Premier League games that the Blues lost last term as a result of his suspension.

In fact, Rico Lewis recently stated that playing alongside Rodri is akin to a dream, as he is able to assess the game and subdue any threat.

It is evident why Murphy believes that the Citizens should prioritize the acquisition of a new midfielder who is capable of performing the same defensive duties as Rodri, given that the midfielder concluded the campaign with the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (96) at City.
