Pep Guardiola’s team will commence their inaugural away match of the season by traveling to London to face Chelsea.

City concluded the previous season by securing its fourth consecutive league trophy.

Chelsea, in contrast, secured sixth place with 63 points, which is 28 points less than Manchester City.

In a recent column for Sportskeeda, where he previewed and predicted the scores for this weekend’s round of opening Premier League fixtures, Paul Merson said the following about the club’s impending clash at Stamford Bridge. Merson recently backed City to win the league again this time around.

He stated, “This is an enormous football match.” Chelsea’s opponent in the Premier League is their benchmark, and this presents an advantageous opportunity to engage in a match against Manchester City.

“You would prefer to engage in a match against them at the outset of the season, prior to the peak of their players’ performance.” This is an advantageous moment to engage in a match against Manchester City, and this was an exceptional match from the previous season.

“Chelsea has the potential to maintain a draw with City this weekend.” Chelsea defeated Manchester City by a score of 1-1.

By defeating Chelsea, City would receive a substantial advantage.
City achieved a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge in their most recent league match in November, as Merson hinted.

The two teams subsequently achieved another stalemate at the Etihad Stadium in February, this time with a 1-1 scoreline.

In the most recent instance, City defeated Enzo Maresca’s team 4-2 in their final pre-season exhibition match in America. Subsequently, they defeated Manchester United on penalties in the Community Shield last weekend.

In light of this, Merson is reasonably optimistic that the West London team will secure a point on Sunday, whereas a victory for the Blues would provide them with a substantial advantage.
