Eric Ramsay’s parting message before West Brom sacking ends 44-day spell

Eric Ramsay said he was “at peace” with his efforts at The Hawthorns just moments before being dismissed as West Bromwich Albion head coach.

The 34-year-old former Minnesota United manager — who previously worked with Manchester United and Chelsea — was relieved of his duties after overseeing a nine-match winless run in charge of the struggling Baggies.

His final game at the helm ended in a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Charlton Athletic. For the first time during his six-week spell, Albion managed to take the lead, with George Campbell heading home before the interval. However, Lyndon Dykes equalised midway through the second half, and that proved to be Ramsay’s final act in charge.

In his last press conference, Ramsay struck a reflective tone, suggesting he had done everything within his power to turn results around. Shortly afterward, he and assistant Dennis Lawrence met owner Shilen Patel in the boardroom at The Hawthorns, where their short-lived tenure — just a month and a half into a two-and-a-half-year contract — officially came to an end.
