Alejandro Garnacho will start for Manchester United when they play Liverpool at Old Trafford.

For the game against Liverpool, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has put Alejandro Garnacho back into the starting lineup instead of Amad.

The United manager changed his starting eleven for the first time this Premier League season when Arne Slot’s team came to town. It looked like Garnacho was going to start after coming off the bench against Manchester City in the Community Shield and scoring, and then coming on to set up Joshua Zirkzee’s goal against Fulham.

Fans thought that he would only be able to start if Marcus Rashford got hurt, since Amad scored in last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion. Ten Hag, on the other hand, says that Garnacho is a better choice than Amad to play against a team like Liverpool.

Ten Hag told Sky Sports, “It’s the same as with Harry Maguire.” Harry and Amad have both done great, but we have a team and this is how we plan to approach the other team, so we think this is the best way to start.

“I am sure we need Harry Maguire today and we need Amad today.”

When asked about having Matthijs de Ligt play, the United boss said, “It’s not about Matthijs for Harry.” We can choose from a good team. We can change how we deal with an enemy. Matthijs is a better fit for this very fluid alternative party.
