European powerhouses seek to acquire a Liverpool player from Real Madrid, with negotiations
reportedly in progress. French champions Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to compete with Real Madrid for the acquisition of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, as per sources. Alexander-Arnold may depart Liverpool on a free transfer upon the expiration of his contract next summer. He is one of three pivotal Reds players whose contracts expire at the season’s conclusion, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who will also be eligible to negotiate with international clubs starting January 1. Arne Slot’s team does not seem to be engaged in negotiations for new contracts with any of their essential trio, instigating concern among the Reds fanbase. Although Salah and Van Dijk are not associated with any specific clubs, Real Madrid is reportedly eager to get Alexander-Arnold. Los Blancos have executed significant free transfer acquisitions in recent years, particularly Kylian Mbappe, and are now focused on the England international. PSG aims to get a Liverpool star from Real Madrid. The European champions may encounter significant competition for Alexander-Arnold’s signature, as sources from Spain indicate that PSG is interested in him. The Parisians are reportedly negotiating to get the Liverpool defender from Real Madrid and are in advanced discussions to secure him on a free transfer next summer. The PSG management is reportedly ‘convinced’ that Alexander-Arnold will be the ‘crucial element to enhance their defense’ and secure success in the Champions League.
PSG faces a challenging task as Carlo Ancelotti’s team intends to expedite the deal to January following Dani Carvajal’s ACL injury. Liverpool is very improbable to transfer its premier defense during the mid-season and will likely engage in discussions with the player, or at the at least, prepare to initiate negotiations. The prospect of joining Real Madrid may be irresistible for Alexander-Arnold; nevertheless, speculation regarding his future is not impacting his on-field performance. Trent has commenced all nine Premier League fixtures under Arne Slot this season and completed the entire 90 minutes during his team’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday. This marks only the second occasion Liverpool has relinquished points in the Premier League this season, following their unexpected 1-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest. Following the draw at the Emirates, head coach Slot remarked: “It was eventful and exhilarating.” Each team scored from a set piece. Arsenal outperformed us in the first half; naturally, I was displeased to concede right before half-time, but upon reflection, they perhaps warranted a one-goal lead.
