Fans are dissatisfied with the performance of 39-year-old striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate in Al-Nassr’s victory over Damac, which they determined to be 1-0.
Cristiano Ronaldo was forced to come off the bench in order to make his debut for Al-Nassr in their match against Damac on Friday evening. However, Aymeric Laporte came through for Al-Nassr and saved them a 1-0 victory.
After scoring back-to-back hat-tricks in Al-Nassr’s previous victories, Ronaldo was the surprising absentee from the starting line-up. This put the Portuguese player at the lead of the race for the golden boot in the Saudi Pro League.
Sadio Mane, a former star player for Liverpool and Bayern Munich, was also placed on the bench in preparation for Al-Nassr’s forthcoming Saudi Super Cup semi-final match against Al-Hilal, the team that currently holds the league championship.
After going around the goalkeeper and toe-poking his shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, Ronaldo came dangerously close to giving the away team the lead. However, a defender narrowly prevented the shot from crossing the line, causing Ronaldo to get extremely frustrated.
A side of the table Prior to Ronaldo’s debut in the 66th minute, Damac had been extremely impressive throughout the entirety of the match that took place at the Abdul Aziz Stadium. He had managed Al-Nassr with easy ease.
The five-time winner of the Premier League had only scored two goals so far this season. He soared to the highest point in the box to make contact with the corner delivery, which caused the goalie to scramble helplessly.
The goal scored by Laporte was a bullet header that sailed over a crowded penalty box and landed in the top corner, which caused the Al-Nassr players to celebrate quite enthusiastically.
Al-Nassr is now within 12 points of Al-Hilal, who are currently leading the Saudi Pro League. The next match between the two teams who are vying for the championship will take place on May 16 in the league.
It is anticipated that Ronaldo will return to the starting lineup for the Saudi Super Cup semi-final match that will take place on Monday. The winner of this match will advance to the final match, which will be played against either Al-Ittihad or Al-Wehda.
