Xavi Hernandez said that Barcelona will decide what to do with Robert Lewandowski in the next few weeks.
Lewandowski will be Poland’s captain at Euro 2024, which could be his last game with the national team.
After the game, the experienced striker will try to meet with Xavi to talk about his long-term future with Catalonia.
His current contract is good until 2026, but Barcelona has the choice to add another year to it if he wants to end his career with the club.
Barcelona is thinking about selling players this summer to pay for new ones, and the Saudi Pro League would still want a lot of money for Lewandowski.
Both Xavi and Lewandowski want to keep playing together, but Barcelona’s head coach said that money might make that impossible in 2024.
“We value Robert’s presence on the team a lot, and we will decide what to do with him after the season,” Marca said.
The comments made by Xavi are the first sign that Lewandowski could be sold if the right deal comes in for the former Bayern Munich forward.
Last season, he scored 23 league goals that helped Barcelona win La Liga. So far this season, he has scored 16 goals.
